We would never recommend something that we don't use ourselves, Paul Evans recommended GO4 for our labrador fern over a year ago. Fern was often a little sore the morning after a long day picking up / beating on the shoot. After 3-4 weeks of using G04 we noticed a considerable inprovement in her so we decided to give it to all our dogs. In the past we gave a human grade glucosamine sulphate in tablet form to our old whippet Jess, she had a pin in her front leg and on cold and damp days she suffered lameness in affected leg. However we had to stop giving her the the tablets as she lost control of her bladder and was weeing all the time.
You don't get this with the GO4 as it is specially developed for dogs, we havn't noticed any side effects what so ever from using the product. Apart from our dogs recovering from knocks and bumps far quicker than they would without being given GO4. This is the only supplement we give our dogs and we certainly wouldn't be without it. It is very cost effective too a 200gram tub last us over 6 months giving it daily to 3 whippets and a labrador.

New from Northern Nutrition is GO4, a joint supplement that stimulates joint repair. Researched and developed by veterinary surgeon Paul Evans BVSc, MRCVS, GO4 is especially recommended for dogs with osteoarthritis including conditions such as hip displacia, OCD and Legge-Perthes and cruciate disease. It is a valuable supplement in young and old alike. In the young or athletic animal GO4 can help prevent joint degeneration from the wear and tear of an active life, while older dogs with arthritic or stiff joints will benefit from GO4's ability to actually stimulate joint regeneration reducing pain, increasing mobility and improving quality of life.
Traditional veterinary drugs such as NSAID's and cortcosteroids are still valuable treatments but can have significant side effects associated with them such as stomach ulcers, renal disease and believe it or not they can actually suppress and can exacerbate the repair of joint cartilage. GO4 is natural and free form these side effects, in fact GO4 could reduce the need for such drugs saving both money and helping minimise side effects.
There are no known drug interactions, an important consideration when the primary beneficiaries of GO4, older dogs could well be on veterinary medication for a number of conditions.
GO4 is pure, stabilised Glucosamine Sulphate in the most effective form there is. There are no additives in GO4 whatsoever, just 100% active ingredient. Simply sprinkled on to food, 90% of GO4 is absorbed directly into the blood stream and of this 90% gets to the joints where it is needed.
What exactly is GS? Well it's an amino sugar that is found within connective tissue, especially joint cartilage and although the body can manufacture GS the rationale behind supplementation is to optimise the repair of the joint structure in degenerative joint disease, swinging the balance from catabolic to anabolic processes.
Other forms of glucosamine are available but the sodium in them can exacerbate high blood pressure, heart problems and fluid retention, common ailments in the elderly dog. GO4 is sodium free and as such is the preferred source of glucosamine. N acetyl glucosamine another form has never undergone strict human trials while an unpublished Canadian paper on glucosamine hydrochloride failed to show any benefit. GO4 however is effective of the highest quality and been shown to work in both dogs and man. (So effective is glucosamine sulphate that in one study it performed better than Ibuprofen). Early in 2001 The Lancet published research from a 3 year study on glucosamine sulphate, the conclusion – it works.
Being pure, GO4 is extremely cost effective and a 10kg dog would cost less than 4 pence a day. Northern Nutrition believes in providing the best supplements in the world and nothing less. GO4 is so pure and effective that our 100g tubs at just £19.99 contains the equivalent active ingredient as a similar veterinary product, which would cost you nearly £400.The 200g tub at £29.99 offers even better value.
