Mojito is our latest addition, We collected her from the isle of Anglesey just after christmas 2009 and at the time of writing she is 8 months old. Her training is going well and we look forward to her joining the team. She has a very relaxing temprement and is willing to please. She is currently going through the teenage stage that all whippet owners will be aware of. We will start to give Mojito some light work when she's ready. Although we suspect that will be a little later than we usually start our pups due to her being a little immature. There is no rush, afterall we have all of the forthcoming season to enter her.
June 2010, we have started to roadwalk Mojito, in addition to her normal exercise regime to improve her fitness levels and to get her tendons and feet prepared for her working career. It takes a long time to get a pup prepared for there life as a working dog, what with there training from 8 weeks old, right up to getting there fitness levels right before you start working them. The quickest way to ruin a young pup is working it too young and expecting far too much from it. Your pup has years of work in front of it so why do too much too soon. If you do too much too soon your dog will soon let you know and you will be back to square one.
As soon as we think she is mentally mature enough for work and she is indeed fit enough, we will take her out on the lamp for a couple of runs. As we have said above there is no rush, we will know when she's ready.
we will keep you informed with her progress
